Dojo Kun — Dojo Kun

JKA Boston's philosophy emphasizes the continuous improvement of one's character. This is reflected in the Dojo Kun, or "Dojo saying", which we repeat at the end of each class:

Seek perfection of character

How to bowDuring class, we practice the philosophy of the Dojo Kun by continuously trying to improve our techniques, making an honest effort, striving to overcome our physical limitations, and showing respect for each other.

One way to show respect is by bowing. When bowing, try to keep your back straight and bend only from the hip.
